Call for Programs 2024

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We are delighted to announce the forthcoming 27th Prix Marulic scheduled to take place from May 24th – 29st 2024 amidst the captivating backdrop of the town of Hvar, on the island of Hvar, Croatia!

Prix Marulic – Old Texts Revisited is an annual festival of audio plays and documentaries based on texts from literary and cultural heritage. It is unique thanks to the enchanting atmosphere that the morning and afternoon listening sessions take place in (more info about the historical settings of the town of Hvar can be found on our website). In the evening, engaging discussions ensue, and all are encouraged to join the jury and contribute to dialogues surrounding the day's showcased programs.

The festival serves as a platform to unveil diverse approaches to presenting pre-1954 literary texts and our cultural heritage to the modern listener and aspires to breathe new life into our cultural legacy. To further explain:
„Old texts” encompasses literature in its broadest sense, transcending genres and forms, i.e. all literary works inherited from the past. This includes plays based on unscripted cultural legacies and texts defying strict literary categorization. In this context, an old text is considered to be any text or non-material heritage pre-dating 1954 (including that year). The Prix Marulić Festival subtracts 70 years from the year of the festival taking place in order to mark the cut-off year for the “old texts”.

Please read the regulations very carefully to avoid making any mistakes which may result in the possibility of your entry being declined.
